Dapa Group
was founded in 2002 as a creative digital photography group for the
more experienced amateur photographer.
As a group, we capture a wide variety of subject matter and styles. From
landscape and natural history studies to portrait and figure work, from
still life to abstract, and from documentary photography to travel. Dapa
Group, like many other photography club’s or societies, is divided into
sections, this is so members can progress with their hobby at a
steady pace, and not feel pressurised or intimidated by photographers
working at a higher level.
This is our top flight group, a specialist group for members
wishing to take their photography to the next level. By
exhibiting work at National and International level you all be
competing for a place in exhibitions along side some of the best
amateur photographers in the world. Therefore, the aim of this
group is to work together as a team, in order to push the limits
of our photography to the standards
required for FIAP, PAGB and BPE* distinctions. This group is a
member of the Midland Counties Photographic Federation (MCPF),
affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB).
This is our main photography group on
Flickr™.
Membership to this group is free and open to all photographers,
irrespective of geographical location. Our Flickr™ group has no association with
any photographic body, other than the photo-sharing community
groups on Flickr™. The aim of this group is to provide an ever increasing
pool of motivating images, not only for our own members to
derive inspiration from, but for others too. It is from our base
on Flickr™
that we systemise our programme of events, having been a member
since 2007.
Dapa offers four more areas of interest for its
members, these are:
Our discussion forum is open to any photographer, current member
or otherwise, for the exchange of
information, relating in some way towards photography. The forum
image pool is given over to one lucky forum member each month,
who wishes to showcase their photography in the form of a
mini-exhibition. A quick click on the gallery link will display
the work of our current exhibitor.
Dapa Group, from the outset has always enjoyed a healthy
competitive spirit in fact our members pride themselves on the
quality of work submitted. Since 2004 the group has organised a
weekly photo contest, so popular are our contests we now have an
official sponsor in the form of Simon Smith of Perfect Images
UK. Does competitive photography interests you? If so, more
details can be found Here.
The images that make up this competition are decided on by the votes
counted in thePerfect Images Photo Challenge. The top three scoring images, as
voted for by our group members each week form the foundations. In
addition to this, the author of our specially selected “Picture of the
Week”, will be asked to attach their work, rendering further support and
another 52 top notch images to the challenge. The author of the final
winning image is crowned Dapa Group “Photographer of the Year”.
In addition to our weekly photo activities members are also
encouraged to show their appreciation of their fellow members
work by participating in the groups “Merit Award” scheme. Merit
awards are distributed by Dapa Group members to images they
consider to be inspirational within the group. Images that
receive five or more merit awards will be invited to join and
share those images in the Dapa Group Hall of Fame.
New members welcome, Yahoo! ID & Flickr™ membership required.
