DAPA GROUP was founded in 2002 as a creative digital photography group for the more experienced  amateur photographer.

As a group, we capture a wide variety of subject matter and styles. From landscape and natural history studies to portrait and figure work, from still life to abstract, and from documentary photography to travel.

Like many other photography clubs or societies, is divided into sections, this is so members can progress with their hobby at a steady pace, and not feel pressurised or intimidated by photographers working at a higher level.

Terms and Conditions

DAPA Exhibition & Distinction Group: Our EXHIBITION and DISTINCTION group is a member of the Midland Counties Photographic Federation, affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain. Membership to this group is open to all UK photographers with an interest in exhibiting work in both National and International exhibitions. The aim of the group is to work together as a team, in order to push the limits of our photography to the standards required for FIAP, PAGB and BPE distinctions. If you have no interest in exhibiting your work or qualifying for any of the distinctions associated with exhibiting, then perhaps our Flickr group would be more beneficial to your requirements. As a member of the E&D group you are required to pay an annual subscription fee of £12.00. Payment occurs on a yearly basis and will not be automatically renewed at the end of each term. You will be sent an invoice for the full amount (non-refundable) in November of each year. If your invoice remains unpaid for a period of one calendar month after the date of issue, we will take the decision that you no longer wish to remain a member of the E&D group and your details will be removed from our register. DAPA GROUP gives notice that information concerning each E&D group member is held on computer. This information relates to your Name, Address and Contact details, including your e-mail address. This information is used for filling in exhibition entry forms and for issuing invoices in respect of payment relating to exhibition entry fees.

DAPA, Flickr Group: Our Flickr group, DAPA, The Best Group on Flickr, like all other Flickr groups is a free to join and has no known association with any photographic governing body. Membership to our Flickr group is by invitation only. Without an invitation you will be asked to submit a small portfolio in the form of a DAPA GROUP set. Your Flickr account allows you to create "Sets", a set is folder where you can group images together in one place. If you have a free Flickr account you are only allowed to create three sets. We suggest you use one of these sets to separate your more serious work from your day to day uploads. Title your set DAPA GROUP and include, within it, 20 images that best illustrate your passion for photography. You are reminded that DAPA, the Best Group on Flickr is a photography group for the more experienced amateur. Holiday Snaps, Pet Pictures and Family Photos we don't wish to see. Correctly exposed and well processed images that would offer inspiration to others we do! Simply requesting to join our Flickr group doesn’t automatically mean your application will be granted! Certainly, without a DAPA GROUP set showing on your account your request for membership will automatically be declined. Creating a set and loading it with a select few select images, takes less than five minutes. In return we promise to give your selection our fullest attention. Successful applicants will receive our welcome letter, usually with 24 hours. Should your application fail, you will be sent a simple decline message with our commiserations. We can not and will not be drawn into any debates as to why an application has been declined, we simply don't have the time. Always remember, the aim of our Flickr group is to provide an ever increasing pool of motivating images, not only for our own members to derive inspiration from, but for others too. Members are permitted to submit 7 images to the image pool each week. Images, if accepted, will be released into the pool at the rate of 1 image per day. The groups' administrator will release up to a maximum of 12 new images to the image pool each day. However, not every image submitted is guaranteed a place in the pool. No explanation will be given for images not used.

Perfect Image Photography Challenge: Sponsored by Perfect Images UK As part of our weekly programme of events within our Flickr group, we offer and encouraged our members to participate in the Perfect Image Photography Challenge. The Perfect Images Photo Challenge is a non-themed photographic competition open to all group members. A maximum of 2 images per author may be submitted to each challenge. Officers, committee & our sponsor, Perfect Images UK reserve the right to remove images at their discretion. The images entered must be original in concept and the copyright of such work must be at the disposal of the entrant. Images must not exceed 500 pixels in width or 500 pixels in height. When submitting images to the challenge, number the image in the order it was added followed by the image title. It will be from this sequential numbering system members will identify & record their top three choices. Incorrectly numbered images will be disqualified. All DAPA Group members are eligible and encouraged to vote. At the time of voting members choose the images, which in their opinion, represent the top three entries from the current challenge. This is carried out by members recording the image number in order of preference, example: #3 #5 #9. This order of preference carries with it a score value; 1st Place = 5 Points. 2nd Place = 3 Points and 3rd Place = 1 Point. At the end of the voting period all votes will be counted, according to the order of listing and verified. The winning author from each challenge (1 round) receives 5 points. Second and third placed photographers will be awarded 3 points and 1 point accordingly. At the end of the contest (13 rounds) the photographer with the most points wins the overall challenge and our sponsor's prize fund of £35. Subsequently, second and third place photographers win £20 and £10 each. Each challenge starts and ends at midnight on Saturday's. There is a 7 day submission period, followed by 7 days of voting to determine a winner. Voting for your own work is not allowed.

DAPA Group - Annual Exhibition of Photography: Sponsored by Picstop.co.uk The images that make up our annual exhibition, now in its 5th year, are decided upon by the votes counted and verified in the Perfect Images Photo Challenge. The top three scoring images, as voted for by our group members each week form the foundations. In addition to this, the author of our specially selected “Picture of the Week”, is asked to attach their work too, rendering further support and another 52 top notch images to the final exhibition. Each member who is fortunate enough to have had their work selected with be invited to join and add their image the DAPA, Picture of the Year Group. The group now produces a book and compact disc of the entire exhibition, available to purchase via the groups very own iShop.

Merit awards are distributed by DAPA Group members to images they consider to be inspirational within the group. Images that receive five or more merit awards will be invited to join and share those images in the DAPA Group Hall of Fame.
